Gokulam Kerala lost in this tussle: Shabbir Ali on revocation of FIFA ban Football News – Times of India

New Delhi: Former India striker Shabbir Ali Glad that FIFA has lifted the ban aiffbut extended my sympathy Gokulam KeralaSaying that the club became “losers” in 11 days of “mess”.
ban on All India Football Federation (AIFF) was canceled by the governing body of world football on Friday night.
The lifting of the ban means that India will be able to host the U-17 Women’s World Cup, besides Indian clubs can now continue to participate in tournaments under the auspices of FIFA and AFC.
Ali told PTI on Saturday, AIFF should have thought of holding elections on time. It is good that the ban has been lifted.
He said, “But in all this mess, it is not ATK Mohun Bagan nor the Under-17 Women’s World Cup in India, it is Gokulam Kerala who have lost. Why would they suffer? How about AIFF compensating them. should think.”
It all went from bad to worse when controversial former AIFF president Praful Patel, whose third term ended in December 2020, remained in office for more than the permissible 12 years.
The Supreme Court forced Patel and his executive committee to step down and appointed a three-member Committee of Administrators (CoA) to oversee the affairs of the federation.
However, FIFA saw this as “undue influence from third parties” and suspended the AIFF on 15 August.
FIFA lifted the ban on Friday, with the Supreme Court ending the term of the CoA earlier this week.
But the 11-day ban forced Gokulam Kerala, the defending Indian Women’s League champions, to miss out on the AFC Women’s Club Championship.
Ali, 66, also questioned the stand of the world governing body, FIFA.
“FIFA says on the one hand that there is no third party interference. Can the World Cup be held without the help of the government?” He added.
Former midfielder Renedy Singh, former captain Baichung Bhutia and Law Minister Kiren Rijiju also welcomed FIFA’s decision to lift the suspension.
Singh said, “It is great news. Glad to hear the news as soon as I woke up in the morning. Whatever happens, the beautiful game of football should continue. Looking forward to watching the U-17 World Cup in a few weeks.”
“Amazing news. FIFA lifts ban on Indian football,” Bhutia tweeted.

Rijiju said: “Fifa has lifted the ban from the All India Football Federation after the Supreme Court removed the mandate of the Committee of Administrators from the affairs of the AIFF.”
