Gold down by ₹195, Silver by ₹223

According to HDFC Securities, gold prices fell by Rs 195 to Rs 51,947 per 10 grams in the national capital on August 1 amid weak global cues and a firming rupee.

The precious metal had closed at ₹52,142 per 10 grams in the previous trade.

Silver declined by ₹ 223 to ₹ 58,731 per kg from ₹ 58,954 per kg in the previous trade.

The rupee on Monday gained 22 paise to close at 79.02 (provisional) against the US dollar.

In the international market, gold was flat at USD 1,764 an ounce and silver at USD 20.21 an ounce.

HDFC Securities Senior Analyst (Commodities) Tapan Patel said, “Gold weakened by around 0.14 per cent in COMEX spot gold prices.
