Gold dropped by ₹54; Silver Tank ₹178

Gold prices fell by Rs 54 to Rs 46,448 per 10 grams in the national capital on January 10, tracking weak international precious metal prices as well as appreciation of the rupee, according to HDFC Securities.

In the previous trade, the precious metal had closed at ₹ 46,502 per 10 grams.

Silver also declined by Rs 178 to Rs 59,217 per kg from Rs 59,395 per kg in the previous trade.

The rupee on Monday closed 31 paise higher at 74.03 (provisional) against the US dollar. It ended 18 paise higher at 74.16 against the US dollar in early trade.

In the international market, gold was trading flat at $ 1,794 an ounce and silver at $ 22.28 an ounce.

HDFC Securities Senior Analyst (Commodities) Tapan Patel said, “Gold traded lower at USD 1,794 an ounce on COMEX on Monday. Gold prices traded under pressure from a firmer dollar and strong US bond yields. “
