According to HDFC Securities, gold prices rose by ₹380 to ₹57,450 per 10 grams in the national capital on March 16 amid a rise in the rates of the precious metal overseas.

In the previous trade, the yellow metal had closed at Rs 57,070 per 10 grams.

Silver, however, declined by Rs 90 to Rs 66,535 per kg.

“Gold prices rose by ₹380 per 10 grams to ₹57,450 per 10 grams in Delhi markets,” said Saumil Gandhi, Senior Analyst-Commodities, HDFC Securities.

In the overseas market, gold was trading higher at $1,922 an ounce, while silver remained flat at $21.61 an ounce.

Comex gold prices edged marginally higher in Asian trading hours on Thursday, Mr Gandhi said, as Swiss lender Credit Suisse again raised concerns of a worldwide banking crisis and investors turned to the safe-haven metal.
