Goa Assembly Election Result Winner: As the ruling BJP Goa All set to score a hat-trick in the coastal state with the support of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), Utpal Parrikar, son of late CM Manohar Parrikar said, “As an independent candidate it was a good fight, I would like to thank the people Am .”
“Satisfied with the fight but the result is a bit disappointing,” he said as he walked out of the counting centre. He is trailing by 713 votes in Panaji.
According to the latest trends of all 40 assembly seats in Goa, BJP is leading in 19 seats, while Congress is leading in 10 seats. MGP was leading in 4 seats, AAP in two seats and Goa Forward Party and Revolutionary Goa Party in one seat each.
Independents were ahead in three seats. A senior political analyst said that since no party will be able to reach the 21-seat mark on its own, the MGP will decide who will form the next government in Goa.
He said that there are indications that she will support the BJP in exchange for the post of deputy CM and key portfolios.
CM Pramod Sawant was leading in Sankelim constituency, while in Valpoi constituency, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane was leading contender for the post of CM.
After the 2017 elections, the Congress failed to form the government despite emerging as the single largest party.
