It seems that there has been a glitch during the registration of the motorcycle. (agent)

Thiruvananthapuram:

In an apparent blunder by the Kerala traffic police, a car owner has been fined Rs 500 for not wearing a helmet properly – an amusing incident but a problem for the affected person as he now has to approach the authorities. Error corrected.

Ajit A, who owns only one Maruti Alto car, recently got an unpleasant surprise – a Rs 500 challan from the Kerala Traffic Police for “driving or causing or allowing a motorcycle to be driven by wearing a protective head gear which is safe and secure.” is not fastened to the wearer’s head (helmet) (chin strap)”.

This is stated in the challan dated December 7, 2021 and as a proof of the same, the challan shows two persons riding a bike with the person sitting behind not wearing a helmet.

Also the challan also states that the vehicle class is ‘Motor Car’ and the registration number is Ajit’s car – KL21D9877.

There seems to be a glitch as the registration of the motorbike, whose image is attached to the challan, appears to be KL21D9811.

However, Ajit told the media that he has decided to file a complaint with the Motor Vehicles Department to address the issue.

When contacted, the police said that it could be the result of some clerical or typographical error when the registration number was being entered in the system.
