Google Bard AI chatbot now responds with images, how to use

By Divya Bhati: Google unveiled its generative artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, Bard, a few weeks ago at its developer’s conference – Google I/O 2023. The new chatbot is the company’s response to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft’s GPT4-powered Bing. While Bard is somewhat similar to the already famous ChatGPT, Google is also developing new features and updating its AI chatbot to make it more informative and engaging than its rivals.

During the launch of Bard at the annual I/O event, Google promised that it would be rolling out new features for Bard in the coming weeks. Bard will boast features like dark mode, searching for topics on the web, helping with coding, and more. While Google has already rolled out some of these features, in a recent push, it has finally introduced images to Bard.

In a recent update, Google announced that Bard can now show prompt results in images from Google Search. The new feature will allow users to get more helpful visual responses. Google says image results will help users get more connectable responses. “Images can help you communicate your ideas more effectively. They can bring concepts to life, make recommendations more persuasive, and enhance responses when you ask for visual information,” reads the official update.

How to use Google Bard Image search:

To get a response in images, you can directly ask Bard for images, and in response, it will also show the source for each image. After the prompt, Bard will provide visuals in search responses that will help give users a better idea of what they’re looking for.

To use Bard:

  • Go to bard.google.com.
  • Enter your prompt in the search bar.
  • Google Bard will show you relevant answers with the option to search on Google Search.

For example, if you are planning a trip, you can ask Bard to show tourist destinations where you are planning to visit. Or if you want to check a skincare routine and buy a product online, you can ask for suggested products with images. Bard will show you a brief description of the product along with images for better understanding.

As of now, Google users across 180 countries, including the USA and India, can use Bard for free.

Notably, Bard is not yet available in the European Union and Canada, and it is also not clear when the tool will arrive in these regions. As for language, users can prompt Bard in Japanese and Korean, in addition to US English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, and Hindi. Google will add more language support in the future.
