How to Change Your Status on Google Chat
Open Gmail on your Laptop/PC.
In the top right, next to your status indicator, click the Down arrow .
Users can choose from: Automatic, Do Not Disturb, or Set As Away.

From your position indicator at the top, click the Down arrow
Click Add a Status
Follow the prompts to choose an emoji, compose a status message, or end or clear the status.
