Google Chat: Google adding red banners to Chat: what they mean to you – Times of India

Google is going to add bright red warning banners to chats to alert people about suspicious invites/links, which could be a cover for Phishing and/or malware based attacks. The feature has been rolled out and is ready to come on both mobile and desktop versions google chat For users who haven’t got it in a few weeks from now.
Whenever a potentially harmful message appears in a chat, Google will try to flag it in a bright red box with the following message:
“This invitation is questionable
This conversation contains links to known phishing sites that may try to steal your information” to which you can respond with either ‘block‘ or ‘accept anyway’.
Such warning signs will appear in a large, red banner with an invitation to “From users with personal Google accounts.”
While the new feature is by no means an easy way to prevent malware from entering your device via chat messages, it can certainly be effective in keeping users eager to click on every message they receive, Especially if the message contains a link.
New ‘Red Alert’ feature for Google Chat to be “available to all” google workspace customers, as well as legacy G Suite Basic and Business customers” and “users with personal Google Accounts.”
The feature is not entirely new to other Google Suite services and has had some repetition in Gmail and Google Drive for some time. The feature has also rolled out to other Google Suite applications such as Google Docs, Sheets and Slides and may take some time to reach customers around the world.
