Google launched its first Chromecast With google tv in 2020. Two years later, Google is reportedly working on a new Chromecast alongside a Google TV device, according to a document seen by the 9to5Google website.
According to the documentation, Google is working on an Android-powered device codenamed purpose, 9to5Google has reported that their APK Insights team has confirmed that the codename is associated with google tv chromecast Software for Android that natively powers Chromecast with Google TV.
Also, the report further states that the boreal codename belongs to the same family as sabrina Which was previously the codename for the current Chromecast with Google TV.
The documentation doesn’t reveal any specific features or specifications of the reported Google TV device, which means there are no details on what the upcoming device will bring to the table compared to the current model.
9to5Google has also reported that there is a possibility that the new Chromecast with Google TV will add support for the AV1 video format that was missing from the current model. It is also expected that Google will add more onboard storage space.
