Google is making its search and YouTube more private with new cookie options: Here’s what’s new

Google has announced a new cookie consent banner after it was forced to pay 150 million euros by European regulators earlier this year. Users searching Europe and visiting YouTube while signed out or in incognito mode will now see an updated cookie dialog with all buttons reject and accept.

Previously, the process took a bit longer as users had only two options – “Accept” and “Personalize”. Here, users were able to accept all cookies with just one button, but it took several clicks to decline them and users had to navigate through multiple options to decline all unnecessary cookies. Now, however, users will get three clear options Google Search and YouTube’s new banner – “Accept All,” “Deny All,” and “More Options,” allows them to decline all cookies with just one click.

Both the “Accept All” and “Reject All” buttons will be placed prominently in the new banner and the same size and color to avoid confusion, or users accidentally clicking the Accept button. Will be The “More Options” button will be of a different color,

“This update, which debuted earlier this month youtubewill provide you with the same “reject all” and “accept all” buttons on the first screen in your preferred language,” Google product manager Samit Aadhya said in a blog post.

This came just before Europe’s new Digital Services Act rule that tightens rules on the sector’s big tech companies. The Digital Services Act or DSA will force the tech giant to take responsibility for the content that appears on its platform.

The new rules include removing illegal content more quickly, explaining to users and researchers how their algorithms work, and cracking down on the spread of misinformation. Companies not complying with the new laws could face fines of up to 6 percent of their total annual turnover.
