In a recent community forum post, Google details all the new improvements that have been made to Google TV. Primarily, there have been some performance and storage improvements, which has improved the overall user experience.
The Home screen or “For You” tab will load faster. Google says it has made cpu Cache management improvements and some enhancements, so the home screen takes less time to load after startup. In addition, navigate the home screen, whether you’re scrolling within one tab or switching to another.
google says that to hit Consumption has been optimized, so Google TV now consumes less RAM than before. Thanks to this, live tabs will load faster and animation is reduced when switching between tabs.
To further optimize performance, image caching has been reworked, reducing the time it takes to load child profiles. In addition, Google has reduced the latency between loading children’s profiles and starting the app.
To improve storage, Google has added a new “Free up storage” option that can be found in Settings. All you have to do is open your television, go to Settings > System > Storage and select Free up storage.
Google didn’t elaborate, but it does say that some under-the-hood changes ensure users have fewer storage-related errors when installing a new app. In addition, a new automated process has been implemented that runs in the background and frees up storage.
If you have a television running Google TV at home, you should be able to experience these improvements starting today. However, some of these changes may take some time to roll out to Chromecast with Google TV.
