Government has identified 101 projects under PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan: Sarbananda Sonowal

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on November 25 said that the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has identified 101 projects under PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan to enhance port connectivity with consumption and production centres.

Addressing an event organized virtually by industry body CII, the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways further said that 111 waterways have been declared as National Waterways.

“Reducing logistics cost is important for India. Our government is taking several steps to strengthen the logistics ecosystem across the country.

“Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has identified 101 projects under PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan to enhance port connectivity with consumption and production centres,” he said.

Mr. Sonowal said, the government’s infrastructure schemes like Sagarmala, Bharatmala Pariyojana (which aims to have a pan-India grid of highways), Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC), are in various stages of implementation.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had last month launched the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan for Multi-Modal Connectivity to reduce logistics cost.

The Minister said, Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) is ready to connect with other Indian ports.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 13 launched the ₹100 lakh crore National Master Plan for Multi-Modal Connectivity to develop infrastructure to reduce logistics costs and boost the economy.
