BJB Autonomous College on Tuesday lodged a complaint with the Badagada police here against eight students who took admission in the premier college by submitting fake disability certificates. “We had sent 102 Persons with Disabilities (PWD) certificates for verification to the Chief District Medical and Public Health Officers (CDMPHOs) of 23 districts. Of them, 15 districts have verified the certificates before sending them to us. From these certificates, we have found that eight of them were fake from Cuttack and Bhadrak districts,” said Niranjan Mishra, principal of BJB Autonomous College.

He said that the college would send request letters to eight districts for their speedy verification before returning the PWD certificates to the college. “As per the guidelines of the government, we have registered an FIR against the students. We will also write a letter to the Higher Education Department to cancel the admission of these students.

The Higher Education Department had in February this year canceled the admission of 28 students of Bhadrak Autonomous College for producing fake PWD certificates during the admission sessions 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22.

“After verification, if students have taken admission with fake certificates, appropriate action should be taken against the students for cancellation of admission immediately. An FIR should also be lodged against such students at the local police station,” the department secretary said in a letter issued in January this year.
