Greater Noida: Sweepers and tractors missing, piles of garbage on the side of the road in Sector Etah 1. Noida News – Times of India

Cleaners reportedly clean only parts of the area, leaving most of the garbage

Greater Noida: Residents of Sector Etah 1 have been complaining about piles of garbage for almost four months. He said that according to the waste disposal tender, 16 sweepers and two tractors have been appointed for the sector. However, there are only four to five sweepers and one tractor-trolley in the sector.
These sweepers and tractors clear only a portion of the area, leaving about 80% of the area on the roadside. There are around 1,000 plots in Sector Etah 1 where at least 200 families live.
There are also 12 parks in the area where horticulture work is yet to be done as tall grasses and shrubs attract seasonal insects. Residents complain that with the ongoing monsoon, the lack of waste disposal is posing a health hazard along with foul smell in the area.
“I have written to GNIDA, and through calls to the authorities several times, apprised them about the dismal waste disposal system here. Deepak Bhati, RWA President, Sector Etah 1, said, not only garbage, but a lot of dirt and C&D garbage is also spread all over the area.
While Bhati said that the contractor was not doing the job properly, he said that not enough manpower is deployed to clean the sector. “Since the new contractor got the job a few months back, more than half the sector has not been cleaned up,” Bhati said.
“Also, the contractor is not deploying the two vehicles sanctioned to him to collect the garbage. It has been almost four months since garbage collection has been curtailed, with the monsoon rains making the situation worse. The foul smell and unhygienic conditions pose a health hazard,” Bhati said.
When contacted, GNIDA’s JE Health Manoj Kumar said that a meeting was held with the RWA of the sector about two-three days ago. The contractor was also apprised of the complaint. “The contractor informed that some employees of his team were unwell. He promised to take up garbage collection and sweeping regularly from next week onwards.
I will also personally check whether the work is done properly,” Kumar said
