Grofers plans to open 150 more dark stores by December for Quick Commerce

E-commerce firm Grofers plans to open 150 dark stores by December, taking the total number to 350, the company’s co-founder said on Wednesday.

The company claims a 3 million monthly order run rate and 3.5x growth in the past two months, while gaining one million Instant Commerce users.

Grofers co-founder said, “Grofers today launched its 200th Dark Store, enabling the magic of 10 minutes. The team and our partners helped us reach this milestone in 3 months.”

“At Grofers, we are all humbled by these stories every day, and it inspires us to do more for our country and communities. We have been able to launch 200 stores in the last three months and work with entrepreneurs like Hardik. We are working hard together. Open 150 more stores in the next 45 days,” Albinder Dhindsa said in a blog.

A company spokesperson said the average weekly retention in the segment is 50%, meaning half of the users come back the next week to order and keep coming back consistently.

Grofers claims to have recorded a weekly ordering frequency of 4.5 orders for users who have experienced regular 10-minute deliveries.

“Our stores, on average, are handling about 500 orders per day. Our oldest dark store handles an average of 1,400 orders per day. It only takes 20 days for one of our fastest growing stores to reach 1,000 orders per day, The spokesperson added.
