GST collection in January at Rs 1.38 lakh crore

GST collection for January 2022 has increased

New Delhi:

Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections crossed Rs 1.38 lakh crore in January, up 15 per cent over the year-ago period.

The Finance Ministry said that the total number of GSTR-3B returns filed till January 30, 2022 is 1.05 crore, which includes 36 lakh quarterly returns.

January is the fourth consecutive month that the GST collection has crossed Rs 1.30 lakh crore.

“Gross GST Revenue in the month of January 2022 as on 31.01.2022 up to 3 PM is Rs 1,38,394 crore, including CGST Rs 24,674 crore, SGST Rs 32,016 crore, IGST Rs 72,030 crore (including Rs 35,181 crore). Import of Goods on) and cess is Rs 9,674 crore (including Rs 517 crore collected on import of goods),” the ministry said.

The highest monthly GST collection in the month of April 2021 has been Rs 1,39,708 crore. The revenue for the month of January 2022 is 15 percent more than the GST revenue and 25 percent more than the GST revenue in the corresponding month of the previous year. Revenue in January 2020.

The ministry said, “Along with the economic reforms, anti-theft activities, especially action against counterfeit billers, are contributing to the increase in GST. Revenue reforms are also the various initiatives undertaken by the council to correct the inverted duty structure. This has happened due to rate rationalization measures,” the ministry said.

The positive trend in revenue is expected to continue in the coming months as well.
