According to the Guinness World Records website, Mr Wadlow suffered from a condition which caused hyperplasia of his pituitary gland. This resulted in abnormally high levels of human growth hormone. Robert’s incredible height led to a number of medical problems, however, which worsened as he grew older – and taller. Even as a young boy, he tried his best to join in the activities his peers were doing.

As soon as the picture of ‘Tallest Man Ever Lived’ surfaced on the internet, netizens were left stunned. Wadlow is not in the category of “I only date people whose height starts with 6” one user joked.

Another user commented, “Wow amazing and he looked so kind.”

Mr. Wadlow died when he was only 22 years old. He died on July 15, 1940, in a hotel in Manistee, Michigan, as a result of a septic blister on his right ankle that had only worsened a week earlier.
