Gujarat Assembly Elections: Rajasthan CM Gehlot to start 3-day tour from Surat today

This will be Gehlot’s first visit to BJP-ruled Gujarat after he was appointed the Congress’s senior observer for the state assembly elections.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will be on a three-day visit to Gujarat from Tuesday to review the preparedness of the Congress for the state assembly elections due later this year. A state party spokesperson said Gehlot would begin his tour from Surat where he would hold talks with Congress leaders from South Gujarat region before leaving for Rajkot.

In Rajkot, Congress veterans will meet party leaders from Saurashtra region during the day. On Wednesday, he will meet leaders in Vadodara and discuss the party’s election preparations in the Central Zone. He will reach Ahmedabad the same day and will meet leaders of the northern region in the evening, while Gehlot will interact with media persons in Ahmedabad on Thursday, the spokesperson said.

On July 12, the Congress appointed Gehlot as a senior observer for the Gujarat elections. During the 2017 assembly elections, Gehlot was all India In-charge of the Congress Committee for Gujarat, a post currently held by Raghu Sharma, MLA from Rajasthan.
