Gujarat BJP MLA threatens to resign over police inaction after “attack” on father

The BJP MLA alleged that on February 8, his father was attacked by four men over a minor dispute.

Kheda, Gujarat:

BJP MLA from Kheda district of Gujarat Kesarisinh Solanki has threatened to resign alleging police inaction after the alleged attack on his father.

Solanki, who represented Matar assembly constituency on Thursday, withdrew his decision after meeting Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

Mr. Solanki told reporters on Wednesday night that he would resign as MLA if the state’s BJP government did not transfer the district’s in-charge Superintendent of Police Arpita Patel and two policemen attached to the Limbasi police station.

He alleged that his father was attacked by four men on February 8 after a minor dispute.

“The accused were roaming freely in the area, but the Limbasi police did not arrest them for 15 days. On Wednesday, the police detained one of the accused after I provided them his exact location. But instead of taking legal action, the police left him. After sometime,” the MLA added.

Solanki alleged that he suspected that the local police officials had taken money from the accused at the behest of a senior officer.

He said, ‘Illegal liquor business flourished in my area under the SP in-charge. If these three officers are not transferred, I will resign from the post of MLA.

The MLA met Chief Minister Patel in Gandhinagar on Thursday.

Solanki said, “The chief minister took note of my complaint and promised action. That’s why I have canceled my plan to resign.”
