Gujarat tea vendor offers complimentary tea to people with Kerala Story tickets

The film has been made tax free in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

The film is doing well and has crossed the Rs 50 crore mark at the box office.

Kerala Story has been in limelight since the release of the teaser of the film. As of now, the film is doing good business at the box office and is also receiving good reviews from the critics. However, the film has been criticized by several groups who claimed that it showed false figures that 32,000 girls went missing and joined the terrorist group, ISIS. The film is directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by veteran producer Vipul Shah. Both have been criticized for promoting propaganda through their film.

However, the film is doing well in the theaters and has crossed the Rs 50 crore mark at the box office. Now, it has been reported that a tea vendor in Gujarat is giving away free tea to people with movie tickets.

The owner of a saffron tea stall in Vesu, an affluent area of Surat, has put up a poster of The Kerala Story, saying that movie ticket holders will get free tea and coffee from his shop. He added that if customers show their tickets, they can avail offers from the shop. He also said that this offer will be valid till May 15, 2023.

Similar news came during the release of The Kashmir Files last year. It was reported that a local Sarpanch in North Gujarat said that he would exempt the villagers from local taxes on the condition that they show them the movie tickets of The Kashmir Files.

Ahead of the film’s release on 5 May, there have been several protests against the film. Several groups claimed that the film should be banned as they said it was allegedly misogynistic against Muslims and would create communal disharmony in the country. However, these appeals were rejected by various local courts and even by the Supreme Court of India.

Amid these controversies, states such as Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have made the film tax-free, while West Bengal and Tamil Nadu have banned it in their states.
