Gujarat Titans beat Mumbai Indians by 55 runs, second in points table

Gujarat Titans beat Mumbai Indians by 55 runs on Tuesday to grab the second spot in the points table. With 10 points, GT is just below Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The GT vs MI match was a completely one-sided affair with Mumbai putting up a very poor show with both the bat and the bowling.

During the first innings, the lower middle order of Gujarat Titans showed excellent use of aggressive strokes and thus propelled their team to post a total of 207 runs.

Shubman Gill again showed his magic and played a brilliant inning of 56 off 34 balls. David Miller scored a brilliant 46 off 22 balls while Rahul Tewatia was also in excellent form as he scored an unbeaten 20 off just five balls. Abhinav Manohar joined Miller and the duo stitched together a crucial 71-run partnership for the fifth wicket, with Manohar scoring 42 off just 21 balls.

Arjun Tendulkar a positive start Following their skipper Rohit Sharma’s decision to bowl first after winning the toss, they conceded only four runs in the first over.

Mumbai Indians did not have to wait for a long period to get their first success in the game. Wriddhiman Saha, attempting a pull shot, failed to make contact with the ball, resulting in a comfortable edge taken by the wicket-keeper. It happened on the very first ball of the third over, which was bowled by Arjun Tendulkar.

Mumbai Indians The start was shaky with skipper Rohit Sharma returning to the pavilion during the second over. Mohammed Shami continued with his bowling and did not allow the MI batsman much progress. Cameron Green opens his arms with a six, but Rashid Khand soon strikes and Ishan Kishan departs.

Tilak Verma followed Kishan in a single over and MI were 45/3 in 8 overs. The dangerous Cameron Green was brought under control by Noor Ahmed and the hopes of the Mumbai Indians fans continued to fade. Wickets kept falling and the gap between balls and runs kept increasing.

The team fought till the last wicket and eventually Gujarat Titans won the match by 55 runs.
