Guru Nanak Jayanti 2022: Delhi Traffic Police issues advisory, asks commuters to avoid these roads

The auspicious occasion of Guru Purab will be celebrated in India after a two-year pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Devotees are gearing up to celebrate the birth anniversary of the leader of the Sikh community – Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Hence, in order to conduct Nagar Kirtan (procession) smoothly, Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory asking commuters to avoid multiple routes for ease of commuting and prevent traffic jams. The procession (Nagar Kirtan) will start from 10 am on 7th November, 2022 from Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, Chandni Chowk, Delhi. Around 25,000-30,000 devotees are expected to participate in the procession.

The procession from Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib will culminate at Gurdwara Nanak Peo Sahib via Main Chandni Chowk Road, Fatehpuri, Khari Baoli, Chowk Qutub Roa, Avanti Bai Chowk, Azad Market, Roshanara Road, Ghanta Ghar, Shakti Nagar Chowk. (GT Karnal Road).

Delhi Traffic Police took to Twitter to share the advisory. “Traffic advice In view of Nagar Kirtan (Procession) to be held on the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Prakash Guruparb, necessary traffic arrangements have been made. People are advised to plan their movement. #DelhiPoliceUpdates,” read the tweet. Delhi Traffic Police.

Roads to avoid during the Nagar Kirtan procession of Guru Nanak Dev Ji on November 7, 2022:

Delhi Traffic Police has imposed traffic restrictions on the following routes on 7th November. These points include Main Chandni Chow Road, HC Sen Marg, Church Mission Road, SPM Marg, Hare Ram Marg, Swami Vivekananda Marg, Qutub Road, Azad Market Road, Rani Jhansi Road, Roshnara Road, GT Karnal Road and adjoining roads/stretch. .

Delhi Traffic Police has given further instructions for general public which include avoiding procession route, reaching railway station and ISBT in time, availing public transport, parking only at designated places and reporting suspicious object/person immediately. .
