The stretch from Guwahati Club to Chandmari Colony area is narrower than the rest of the stretch from Chandmari Colony to Bamunimaidan.
“The city is unplanned. Widening the roads in this densely populated city with a population of about 13 lakhs is now a daunting task. People will definitely protest. development is necessary; But people should not lose their livelihood,” said Basanta DekaA trader in Silpukhuri. Inadequate number of parking and non-compliance of traffic rules are the major issues which need to be resolved in the city, he added.
“There is no parking facility from Guwahati Club area to Bamunimaidan area. People park their vehicles on the side of the road, which creates a situation of jam. We need a solution to this,” he said.
