American model and singer Justin Bieber’s wife Hailey Bieber has finally opened up about her medical condition in an elaborate Instagram video. On March 10, she was admitted to the hospital with stroke-like symptoms, and now went on to detail the entire incident, describing it as “the scariest moment of her life”. She began by remembering that while having breakfast with her husband, she suddenly “felt this really weird sensation” that ran from his shoulder to his arm and then down all the way down to his fingers. She said the sensation made her fingers “feel really numb and weird.”
After experiencing a numb and strange sensation, she revealed that her “right side of the face began to hang down” and that she could not speak a sentence with her mouth. Immediately, she realized she was “having a stroke” and said she was lucky to have a drug that was able to test her. Hailey was taken to hospital where doctors revealed that the 25-year-old was suffering from a small blood clot in her brain that was classified as a transient ischemic attack (TIA). For those who don’t know, a TIA, also known as a mini-stroke, is actually a temporary symptom similar to a stroke.
According to her doctors, the clot in her brain was the only reason: First, Hailey started taking contraceptives without even talking to her doctor, and she’s someone who suffers from migraines anyway. Subsequently, he recently contracted COVID-19 and did not take rest as he started traveling too soon. Therefore, he called it the “perfect storm” for his blood clots. Despite all the tests, doctors could not figure out why the blood clot reached his brain. And later to find out, she visited UCLA, where Hailey was diagnosed with grade 5 PFO and a few other detailed diagnoses that led to it.
Haley said, “The conclusion was that I had a blood clot that had gone to my heart, and instead – what usually happens if you have a small blood clot that the heart is pumping blood to your lungs? Will filter out the clot and your lungs will absorb it.” She continued, “What happened to me is that my blood clot actually came off the flap or the hole in my heart, and it went to my brain and that’s why I suffered a TIA.”
Next, she had a cardiac procedure to close the PFO and that was done by inserting a small object through the femoral vein into her groin to close the small hole. Hailey concluded by saying that she is now relieved that experts figured everything out in time and assured her followers that she is recovering well.
