It is a festival of Hindu devotees that recognizes the victory of Goddess Durga. It is celebrated for ten days to worship the most ferocious and courageous goddess, who is regarded as Shakti ‘Shakti’ in Indian mythology.
According to the Gregorian calendar, Navratri is mostly celebrated in the month of September-October. It ends on the tenth day known as Vijayadashami, commonly known as Dussehra.
Many observe a fast to show devotion by following a strict vegetarian diet and abstaining from alcohol and non-vegetarian food. Mainly in Gujarat, many people come out to celebrate this nine-day festive occasion with their traditional dance-Garba. But this dance form Garba is not limited to Gujarat only, from Delhi to Mumbai, now this dance form has become a trend to celebrate the occasion of honoring the divine feminine principle.

Women wear Chaniya Choli. A traditional three-piece dress consisting of a chaniya, choli and an embellished dupatta. You can pair it with bangles, anklets, necklaces and belts. Men wear Kediyu for dance performances. It is a long-sleeved garment, which is fitted on the chest which reaches till the waist. Kediu has a bandhani design which is local to Gujarat and Rajasthan.
