Haryana government launched ‘e-learning’ scheme, 3 lakh students were given tablets for online education

The Haryana government on Thursday launched its ambitious “e-learning” scheme, under which nearly three lakh tablets were distributed to government school students of class 10 and 12. The government intends to provide gadgets to five lakh students of class 10-12. However, it said that the Class 11 students will get them after clearing the Class 10 board exams and qualifying for the next year.

“From next year, all classes from 9-12 will be covered,” Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said after launching the government’s Advance Digital Haryana initiative with the Adaptive Module (Adigham) scheme at Maharishi Dayanand University in Rohtak. “Tablets and data are tools for students that will help them acquire 21st century skills and open up new opportunities. Through e-learning, Haryana students will become global students.

During COVID-19, Khattar said, many families struggled to upgrade their children to online education and this initiative was an attempt to address this concern. “With these bullets, we will not be confined to classroom teaching, but we will remain engaged with the affairs of the world,” Khattar said.

Tablets are the new classroom and “through e-books, it has become a full-fledged classroom”, he said. Emphasizing on the role of digitization, especially during the pandemic, he said, “We have seen youths from many countries developing apps which have multiple uses in our daily lives and our youth have also proved their worth. “

Meanwhile, Khattar also said that the government will form two task forces for the education sector – one will work on infrastructure, buildings, boundary wall, beautification, cleanliness, roads, water, sanitation and other essential needs of schools, while the other will ensure that the arrangement of furniture etc.

“We are giving a lot of emphasis on IT (Information Technology) under the new education policy,” he said. “The country has set a target to implement this policy by 2030, but our target is 2025,” Khattar said.

“We are giving priority to the education sector and out of the state’s budget of about Rs 1.70 lakh crore, Rs 20,000 crore has been earmarked for education alone,” he said. Quoting Nelson Mandela, Khattar said that education is the most powerful weapon to change the world. Education Minister Kanwar Pal said that devices were distributed among students in 119 blocks across the state simultaneously.
