Haryana: IT panel approves five projects worth ₹498 crore

Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal on Friday announced a total of five projects 498 crore has been sanctioned for improving the IT resources and services of the state.

Kaushal said this while presiding over the 48th meeting of the State Level IT Steering Committee.

Establishment of new and high-speed optical fiber lines for LAN

sum of Rs 50 crore has been allocated for installation of new and high-speed optical fiber lines in Haryana Civil Secretariat, new secretariat in Chandigarh and mini secretariats in all districts.

According to Kaushal, Local Area Network (LAN) systems and IT systems are essential components of information and communication technology infrastructure as they help in ensuring that the residents of the state get the benefits of programs and policies in a transparent and time bound manner .

Hence, he said, the state will completely redesign its LAN and IT infrastructure. This will be done using the most up-to-date methods.

along with Haryana The Chief Secretary said in an official statement that all mini secretariats of the districts as well as their video conferencing rooms in the new secretariat in Chandigarh would be upgraded.

The Chief Secretary told the officers that citizens are getting the benefits of programs of all the departments of the state online. Therefore, it should be ensured that the works associated with all these sanctioned projects are completed within a stipulated time frame.

To ensure that the projects are completed on time, he ordered that nodal officers be appointed for their implementation and supervision. Also, Kaushal directed that the sanctioned budget for these projects should be utilized in a phased manner.

Kaushal also directed to conduct third party audits from time to time to check the quality of resources used for the projects.

Upgradation of Network Management Centers

budget of approx 48 crore was approved in the meeting for upgradation of State Wide Area Network, State Network Management Center, All District Network Management Center and Block Network Management Center.

Kaushal said that at present all the departments of the state are using the statewide area network and due to increase in traffic congestion on the network its upgradation is mandatory.

Additionally, a project worth 265 crore has been approved for the upgradation of the state data center at Chandigarh.

IT Infrastructure for Power Distribution Sector

The Chief Secretary was informed by the officials that the power utilities (DHBVN and UHBVN) have jointly decided to develop a common integrated IT infrastructure solution in the State to initiate reforms in the power distribution sector. To upgrade the existing IT infrastructure, a project worth 135 crores was also approved for this.
