Haryana schools short of 38,000 teachers, says Minister Kanwar Pal Gurjar – Times of India

CHANDIGARH: Haryana’s Education and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kanwar Pal Gurjar said in the Assembly on Saturday that there are over 38,000 vacancies for teaching staff and over 2,000 for non-teaching in government schools across the state.

As per the information, there are 38,476 vacancies for teaching posts, including 15,265 Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs), 18,236 Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs), 1,046 Headmasters/Mistresses and 3,929 for Junior Basic Teachers (JBTs).

At the same time, 2,000 posts of non-teaching staff are also vacant, including 663 chowkidars, 579 gardeners and 732 scavengers. All this came to light when Minister Gurjar laid the details on the Table of the House in response to the question of Independent MLA Balraj Kundu during the Question Hour. Gurjar has also sent information about the demand of Mewat cadre of 3646 PGTs, 3033 TGTs, 952 primary teachers to the Haryana Staff Selection Commission.

Kundu had sought details of vacancies in government schools and an action plan from the Haryana government. “For the past several years, we have been hearing about claims of reforms in the education system. But it seems we are the worst state. We are not able to provide even basic education in Haryana.

There are about 25,000 government and private schools in the state, including 14491 government and 10460 private schools. There are 2159 Government Senior Secondary Schools, 137 Sanskriti Senior Model Schools, 1037 High Schools, 2416 Middle Schools, 7252 Primary Schools, 1420 Sanskriti Primary Schools, 36 Aroho Vidyalayas and 22 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas.
