Haryana’s headache for Congress? ‘irrelevant’ working presidents as Hooda tightens grip, question mark

After Punjab and Rajasthan, Haryana appears to be the latest headache for the Congress, as massive infighting threatens to derail the prospects of the Grand Old Party, which has seen several abandonments and a decline in success rate over the past few months.

Amid rumors of discontent following the ouster of Kumari Selja and the appointment of Bhupinder Singh Hooda loyalist Uday Bhan as the new state unit president, former minister Kiran Choudhary on Saturday questioned the removal of party presidents from the posters of Deepender Singh Hooda. raised. ,

As Deepender Hooda shared a poster of an event titled ‘Opposition Aapke Samadhan’, which features senior leaders like Hooda and Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi And Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Chowdhary immediately asked: “Is the working president of the PCC irrelevant Deependra ji?”

The development comes amid rifts in the Haryana unit, especially since senior Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala threw his weight behind party colleague Kuldeep Bishnoi, who was “very angry” at being denied any place in the amended Haryana Congress. Describing Bishnoi as the ‘best state unit president’, Surjewala said Bishnoi was “very capable, talented and a decent person and leader”.

However, when asked about his stand, which was opposed to top officials, Surjewala said it was his “personal view”.

Apart from this, the resignation of Kumari Selja has also increased the party’s concerns as the appointment of Uday Bhan has the seal of former CM Hooda, whose stronghold on the party will be strengthened as he himself is a CLP leader.

In a show of strength, the party tried to organize a foundation ceremony for Bhan, but a roadshow before the event saw only Hooda and his son in attendance.

The Haryana unit is plagued by internal squabbles over organizational control with Hooda and his son and Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Singh trying to assert his dominance in the state Congress. Earlier, indications had surfaced that either of them would take over as the state unit chief, but Bhan’s appointment was marred by fears of a settlement.

With Bhan as part of the pact formula, four working presidents representing different groups were elected in the faction-ridden Haryana unit. But it seems the trouble is not over yet. The party is already facing anger from supporters of Kuldeep Bishnoi MLA, son of former Adampur (Hisar) CM Bhajanlal.

Bishnoi is considered a strong non-Jat leader and was hoping to be elected to the top spot. He has already expressed his dismay at the reshuffle despite holding back from quitting the party. He has asked his followers to exercise ‘restraint’ for the time being.
