President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday called upon the students to have faith in their abilities and move ahead, noting that the youth of the country have the potential to utilize the opportunities that lie before them, at the 6th Annual Convocation of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh. was addressing the ceremony. He expressed confidence that these initiatives would develop new skills, knowledge and abilities in the students and lead them in life with a spirit of self-reliance and nation-first. There is a need to have faith in one’s abilities and move forward, Kovind said, adding that convocation is an opportunity for students to complete formal education but learning must continue throughout life.

He said that students should be ready to learn from everyone at every step. Kovind said that opportunities are available in front of the youth of the country. India in many areas and they have the potential to use them.

The President said that the Central University of Himachal Pradesh has completed 12 years of its establishment. It is high time for the University Alumni Association to be active and organize annual or biennial meet. He said that the alumni of any institute feel special attachment towards their institution. Therefore, the Alumni Association can play an important role in giving this spirit a useful form for the institution.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while congratulating the students for receiving gold medals and degrees on the occasion said that Himachal Pradesh, despite being a small state, has shown the way to many big states in the field of education. He said that the credit for this goes to the teachers of the hill state. Thakur said that providing self-employment and innovative education has been the motto of Himachal Pradesh Central University and as a result more than 400 students are receiving medals and degrees.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. SP Bansal, welcomed the President and other dignitaries and presented the progress report of the University. He said that the University is striving hard to provide career oriented education to the students with special focus on research.

He reached Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh on a two-day tour of the state. Security has been tightened in view of the ban on paragliding, drone flying and hot air ballooning in Lahaul-Spiti and Kullu districts on June 11 during the President’s visit to Atal Tunnel Rohtang.

He will visit Rohtang, the Atal tunnel connecting Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti districts, on Saturday. Iconic tunnel inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on October 3, 2020. Drone flying, hot air ballooning and paragliding have been banned in Lahaul-Spiti and Kullu districts on June 11, officials said.

Issuing an order under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, Lahaul-Spiti Deputy Commissioner Neeraj Kumar said the prohibitory orders have been issued to avoid any obstruction in the air travel of the President and to ensure his safety.
