Bagalkot:

Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Kumaraswamy on Monday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party “will not make the chief minister” from the Lingayat community “at any cost”.

He made the remarks while campaigning for party candidate Hanumantha Mavinmara in Badami.

Addressing the gathering, Kumaraswamy said, “I have said this earlier as well. BJP will not make a Lingayat the chief minister at any cost. In fact, a lot of work is going on behind the scenes to make a Brahmin the chief minister.”

The JD(S) leader further said that instead of the real problems of the people, issues like “snake” and “poison girl” are being discussed.

“Instead of discussing various problems in the state, they (BJP) are discussing “snake” and “vishkanya”. There is no need for such politics. Will these things improve people’s lives? Criticized everything, and talked about ATMs, and double engine. But, I want to ask why corruption has not been stopped in the state. The double engine government has looted the state,” Mr Kumaraswamy said.

He attacked both the BJP and the Congress for calling the JD(S) each other’s “B team”.

“Prime Minister Modi calls JD(S) the B team of Congress. Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah calls JD(S) B team of BJP. We are the team of the people of the country and Kannadigas,” he said. Said.
