At 12 noon, an hour before the school closed, he received a call from the accused teacher – Shobharan – informing him that his elder son had fainted. “When I went to his school, I saw my son lying on the ground covered with his own vomit,” Mr. Devdutt told The Hindu.

He took his son to a clinic in Dadri, followed by a local hospital, where he was asked to take his son to Delhi for better treatment.

“The initial CT scan showed bleeding from his brain, which made it swollen. I took my child to two hospitals in Delhi, both of whom refused admission saying that they did not have the necessary medical equipment for the treatment,” alleged the father. Prince breathed his last on October 8 at 9 am at LNJP Hospital. The doctors there told Mr. Devdutt that the delay in admitting his son had resulted in a build-up of fluid inside his brain.

Shobharan, who was absconding for three days after the incident, has been booked under section 304 of the IPC for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

“He was taken into custody on Tuesday and is cooperating with the investigation so far. She has confessed that she had beaten Prince with a cane. We spoke to Prince’s classmates, who also claimed that Shobharan often used to beat up students in the class. We are still waiting for the post-mortem report,” said DCP (Central Noida) Ram Badan Singh.

Shri Devdutt says that his son was beaten up by the same teacher earlier also. “Months before the incident, I had seen bruises on Prince’s thighs, which he later told me was the result of his teacher’s cane.
