Head shaved, forced to clean drain on theft

A 25-year-old alleged thief was forced to clean a drain and shaved his head after he was caught stealing by a group of people in North Delhi’s Wazirabad area. The police gave this information on Friday.

Police said a case has been registered in connection with an incident.

A video of the incident, which went viral on social media on Friday, showed a group of people thrashing a man on the charge of stealing a water motor. They partially shave his head and also force him to clean a drain.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said, “A video clip was going viral on social media on Friday in which some people were found thrashing a man named Sakil. There are some spectators too.” The incident happened around 2 pm on Friday.

During interrogation, the police revealed that the local residents of Wazirabad village had caught a thief as he was trying to steal a water motor from the house of Faizan, a street number-9 resident of Wazirabad.

Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 355 (assault or criminal force with intent to insult any person, otherwise on grievous provocation), 504 (with intent to incite contravention) Intentional insult), Kalsi said that section 34 (like intent) of the Indian Penal Code has been initiated against the alleged persons and investigation is on.
