Heavy rain in Hyderabad, floods in many areas

Several low-lying areas of Hyderabad were flooded on Saturday following heavy rains in the city. According to the rainfall data of Telangana State Development Plan, the Lingojiguda ward office in Saroornagar in the city received 131.5 mm of rain, while several other places also recorded rain from 08:30 am on Friday to 06:00 am on Saturday. Society.

Rain water entered homes in various residential colonies in Hayat Nagar, where some residents complained that their household items were washed away.

In Chintakunta, a man along with his bike fell into a drain late on Friday night and rescue and relief personnel tried to nab him. Official sources said that the man, however, reached home safely.

Several two-wheelers were damaged after a wall at a cinema hall collapsed on Friday night following heavy rains.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor Gadwal Vijaya Lakshmi and LB Nagar MLA D Sudhir Reddy visited the rain-hit areas on Friday night.

The mayor, who held a tele-conference with the GHMC officials last night, urged them to take measures to ensure that there is no loss of life and property due to the rains.

GHMC in a press release on Saturday asked the residents of the city to remain alert in view of the forecast of heavy rains during the day. It advised them to step out of their homes only for essential work.

IMD in its weather summary said that Telangana has received good rainfall at many places. Saroornagar in Ranga Reddy district (GHMC) received 15 cm of rain, followed by Shadnagar (also in Ranga Reddy district) with 10 cm of rain.
