Heavy rain likely in Chennai, adjoining districts next week

Chennai:

A cyclonic circulation over Tamil Nadu region will bring heavy rains over Chennai and adjoining districts on August 1 and 2, the Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) had predicted on Friday.

A Met official said in a statement, “Though light to moderate rain was predicted in Chennai for the past few days, only a few areas received rain. A cyclonic circulation is over Tamil Nadu region, from next month onwards. There is a possibility of rain in North Tamil Nadu. ,

However, dry weather is likely to continue during the day over the city during the weekend, the statement said.

The official further said that most areas of the city are likely to receive heavy rains. It is also expected that other districts will receive heavy rainfall in August.

Heavy rain is very likely at isolated places over Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Thenkasi, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Erode, Salem, Namakkal and Karur districts of Tamil Nadu on August 1.

Heavy to very heavy rains are very likely over Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur and Ranipet from August 1.

In addition, heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds also lashed Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Vellore, Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Tiruchi, Pudukottai, Tirupattur, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, Tiruppur, Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal and Krishnagiri. Will be ,

Meanwhile, the national capital Delhi is likely to remain partly cloudy with light rain. The minimum temperature is likely to be around 25 degrees Celsius while the maximum is expected to be around 32 degrees.

Mumbai is generally cloudy with a chance of light rain. The minimum temperature will be around 25 degrees Celsius and the maximum will be around 31 degrees.

There is a possibility of partly cloudy sky with one or two rain or thundershowers in Kolkata. The minimum temperature will be around 28 degree Celsius and the maximum temperature will be around 34 degree.

In Chennai, the sky will be cloudy with light rain or drizzle. The minimum temperature will be 27 degree Celsius and the maximum temperature will be 33 degree.
