Heavy rains in coastal districts of Karnataka, schools declared holiday

In the southern parts of Karnataka also, there is a flood-like situation due to heavy rains.

Mangaluru:

Deputy Commissioner KV Rajendra said that in view of the heavy rains, a holiday was declared for the second day in the schools of Dakshina Kannada district today.

Normal life was disrupted in the district since Wednesday due to heavy rains due to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal.

To ensure the safety of school children, a holiday has been declared for today in all government, aided, unaided primary and high schools.

Rajendra said that this decision has been taken keeping in view the difficulties faced by the children in rural areas. He said that status quo can be maintained if children reach schools in urban areas.

Meanwhile, Udupi Deputy Commissioner M Kurma Rao also directed schools to take a decision on declaring a holiday as heavy rains continued in both the coastal districts.
