Helicopter ride over Indrakeeladri will be an attraction during Dussehra

Krishna Collector J. Niwas on Tuesday said a helicopter ride over the Indrakeeladri Hill would be a special attraction during the Dussehra festival to be held from October 7 to 15.

The collector, who has appointed city police commissioner B. Srinivasulu and other officials, who inspected the arrangements being made for the Dussehra festival in and around the temple, said that visitors to the temple above Indrakeeladri would get an opportunity to go on a helicopter ride. Give them a bird’s eye view of the city of Vijayawada.

Sree Niwas inspected the ongoing works for making queues from Vigneshwara Temple at Seethammavari Padalu, parking space for VIPs and other facilities to ensure smooth darshan for the devotees.

He directed the temple executive officer D. Bhramaramba and Vijayawada Municipal Commissioner V. Prasanna Venkatesh to expedite the works of queue lines, prasadam counters, drinking water and other facilities.

Commissioner of Police Srinivasulu said 10,000 devotees would be allowed at the temple on each of the nine days of the festival. In order to regulate a smooth darshan, officials from the coalition departments of Revenue, Endowment, Irrigation, VMC and Devasthanam had formed the Utsav Committee which would oversee the arrangements.

“In addition, police pickets will be set up at bus and railway stations and at all major junctions. Special teams will monitor the situation round the clock,” said Sri Srinivasulu.

Principal secretary (endowments) G. Vani Mohan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) K. Babu Rao and temple executive officer D. Bhramaramba inspected the ongoing works in the temple.

The officials visited Ghat Road, Kalyan Katta and inspected the construction of a retaining wall at the Prasadam Board, provision of free Annadanam and the Prasad counter in the temple.
