Here’s how to create multiple UPI IDs in Google Pay

New Delhi: In the current digital age, real-time access to secure online payments has become the quintessence. With its Unified Payments Interface (UPI), India has taken a leading role in promoting digital payment transactions and has made significant progress. While digital wallets help in making quick and hassle-free payments, sometimes a busy server can cause payments to get stuck. Multiple UPI IDs are helpful when there is a lot of traffic on the UPI network. On Google Pay, users can have up to four UPI IDs linked to their bank accounts and multiple UPI IDs linked to the same bank.

Having additional UPI IDs with different banks in Google Pay offers different avenues to make transactions seamless, fast and hassle-free. How does this work? In case no UPI ID route is available, the app will select an alternate route for your payment, to ensure that the user experiences a smooth payment experience every time. It also ensures that payments are made securely without any delay or failure. The user can remove these IDs at any time as he wishes.

Here is the step-by-step guide to add another UPI ID in Google Pay.

Launch the Google Pay app on your Android or iOS device

Sign in / Log in to the app

In the upper right corner of the screen, click on the photo

Now choose payment methods

Select the bank account you want to add for the new UPI ID

At this point, select ‘Manage UPI ID’ from the drop-down option

Tap on the “+” sign next to the UPI ID you want to generate to create a new one

Under “Select an account to make payment from” option, you can select the UPI ID to be used for the payment methods

Note: When you select ‘Add Now’, Google Pay will send an SMS to generate an additional UPI ID on your behalf. Standard SMS charges will be applicable.
