BBC anchor Lukwesa Burak during a live broadcast on Thursday.

BBC anchor Lukwesa Burak has broken her silence after a video went viral on social media. The awkward moment played out on Thursday when a segment was cut short and the presenter didn’t realize she was still live on air. The lapse caught the attention of several social media users, who soon posted the clip on Twitter and other platforms. However, users supported Ms. Burak and praised her professionalism, to which she responded with a thank you note.

“Thank you guys: Colleagues – present and former, and all you wonderful viewers,” she tweeted, reacting to a clip posted by a user.

Another user wrote, “You made my morning” to which Buraq replied, “Here to serve.”

On Thursday, the anchor was ending a segment on the vigil held for the nine victims of the Serbia school shooting and began the next segment before cameras cut out.

“And that was Bethany Bell in Belgrade. Around the world and across Britain, it’s BBC News,” she told the audience.

The news bulletin then cuts to a pre-recorded news segment connected to bagpipes before the cameras. Ms. Lukwesa unexpectedly cut back in the studio.

The BBC host is shown spreading his hands over his head and saying to himself “Okay!” Was seen saying.

The anchor’s eyes widened in shock when she realized the spotlight was on her again.

He immediately dropped his arms and turned his head towards the notes on his desk. The anchor was seen sitting quietly, staring at her desk for several seconds.

Though it was an embarrassing moment for the anchor, the clip greatly amused the audience.
