Heritage train ran from Muzaffarpur-Bettiah to commemorate Bapu’s journey

India will celebrate 75 years of Independence this year and to commemorate the same, Indian Railways organized a week long festival to highlight the role of Railways in the freedom struggle to connect people and youth with the glorious history of India. From 18-24 July, the Railways celebrated the culmination of the week-long ‘Azadi Ki Rail Garhi Aur Stations’ where freedom fighters were provided facilities.

Having said that, to celebrate the ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings of truth and non-violence, a ‘Virasat Train’ was run from Muzaffarpur to Bapudham Motihari/Bettiah in memory of Champaran Satyagraha. The Ministry of Railways shared a glimpse of the heritage train on Twitter.

“Freedom Train and Station! Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi got down from the train at Bapudham Motihari station for Champaran Satyagraha. Heritage special train was run from Muzaffarpur to Bapudham Motihari/Bettiah in memory of that historical event.

The Heritage Special train started its journey from Muzaffarpur Junction to Bettiah at 7 AM. The train was decorated with balloons and flowers. During the train journey, people welcomed the trains with flowers and slogans like ‘Bapu amar rahe’ at various stations. The festivities were effective in instilling a sense of patriotism in the minds of the traveling public and the people at large.

The celebration of the coveted week was very impressive across the country and more lively around the Freedom Stations and Spotlight Trains to instil a sense of patriotism in the minds of the traveling public and the people at large.
