High alert in Punjab regarding Baisakhi, police leave canceled amid search for Amritpal

Due to high alert in the state for Baisakhi, all holidays of Punjab Police have been canceled till April 14. In response, Akal Takht chief Giani Harpreet Singh announced a three-day annual gathering at Takht Damdama Sahib to celebrate Baisakhi.

“There is a clear difference between the annual congregation and the ‘Sarbat Khalsa’. It is a gathering to mark Baisakhi,” an official told HT, adding that the Akal Takht does not actually agree with Amritpal Singh’s demand for Sarbat Khalsa.

Amritpal Singh has been dodging the police since March 18. Despite being on the run, he has released two videos And an audio clip while in hiding. There is speculation that he may surrender at the Golden Temple or some other temple before the upcoming Baisakhi celebrations.

The Punjab Police has denied reports of surrender of Waris Punjab D chief Amritpal Singh, saying there is no truth in the speculations. the police have already said that adequate security arrangements carried out in public places.

Message issued by Amritpal Singh He did not suggest any plan of dedication to his followers. He said that he would have agreed if the Punjab Police had come to his house to arrest him. However, the police was following him and arrested several Sikh youths.
