Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday said that the Higher Education Commission of India (HECI) should ensure employment, job creation, global outlook with strong penetration in the Indian knowledge system and language. The minister made the remarks while presiding over the consultation on the formation of HECI.
“HECI must ensure employment, job creation and a global outlook. He said it should ensure global educational standards and provide greater academic autonomy to higher education institutions. “This important recommendation of NEP-2020 will be one of the many steps towards colonization of the country’s education system,” Pradhan said.
As per the National Policy on Education (NEP), a single regulatory body will guide higher education in India. The regulatory body will have four functions to deal with the various functions of higher education.
