Twitter boss Elon Musk’s announcement that the company will set a daily limit on the number of posts users can read has sparked a meme fest on the platform. Users have not only posted hilarious jokes on Mr Musk’s latest announcement, but have also expressed their dismay at the bizarre proposal. Twitter’s executive chairman said this under “temporary limit”Verified accounts are now limited to reading 6,000 posts per day, unverified accounts to 600 posts per day and new unverified accounts to 300 posts per day.
Responding to this, users said that it is against the principles of Twitter.
One user commented, “This is a rate limit thing. It was originally about Twitter.” Another tweeted, “Dude will burn the app he owns. #RIPTwitter will remove this bullshit rate limit.”

Mr Musk said in a tweet that the limits had been implemented to address “excessive levels” of data scraping and system manipulation, but did not specify when these changes would take effect.
The billionaire had said that hundreds of organizations or more were scraping Twitter data “extremely aggressively”, affecting the user experience.

He previously expressed displeasure at artificial intelligence firms such as OpenAI, the owner of ChatGPT, for using Twitter’s data to train their large language models.
The social media platform had previously taken several steps to bring back advertisers who left Twitter under Mr Musk’s ownership and boost subscription revenue by making the verification check mark part of the Twitter Blue programme.
