In a complaint to the Himachal Chief Electoral Officer, the legal and human rights department of the state Congress said that EVM machines were seen being taken to their stations (strong rooms) in unauthorized private vehicles.

Terming it as an “absolutely unfortunate incident” in his assembly constituency Rampur, Congress Legal Cell working president Pranay Pratap Singh said that as per protocol, vehicles hired to take such machines to the strong room would be allowed to go to the polls. must be sought before. Commission or Returning Officer.

“But in the case at hand, the machines were transferred in a private vehicle without any prior authorization or requirement from the Returning Officer or the Election Commission,” Mr Singh questioned the car.

“You are humbly requested to kindly take cognizance of the above matter at the earliest because if this is not done the ruling BJP party will make a mockery of the elections and curb not only the fundamental rights of the citizens but also the independent powers and functions of the Election Commission of India , ” read the Congress complaint to the CEO.

The complaint also states, “Necessary action with respect to the violation of the Model Code of Conduct should be taken on an immediate basis and a criminal complaint should be registered against the offenders at the earliest.”

Earlier, the Himachal Congress, in another complaint, alleged that the BJP was circulating a “fake letterhead” in the name of AICC in-charge of Himachal Rajeev Shukla to influence the voting pattern in favor of candidates.

The party said in its complaint that Mr Shukla never wrote or signed any such letter.

The complaint states, “This letter is exaggerating the desperation level of the BJP. This forged letter is nothing but a feeble attempt to harm the Congress, but the BJP is not aware that Himachal Pradesh’s People are smart and intelligent enough to understand their malicious intentions.” Demanded strict action against BJP and registration of FIR.
