33-member Indian women’s core group named for national coaching camp (Hockey India Photo)
The camp will help the players to work hard on improving their strategies and combination ahead of the Indian women’s hockey team’s tour of Australia ahead of the Asian Games in China.
Hockey India on Saturday announced a 33-member core probable group for the Senior Women’s National Coaching Camp, to be held from April 9 to May 13, 2023 at SAI, Bengaluru. The camp will help the players to work hard on improving their strategies and combination ahead of the Indian women’s hockey team’s tour of Australia ahead of the Asian Games in China.
The core group of the national camp includes goalkeepers Savita, Rajni Etimarpu, Bichu Devi Kharibam and Bansari Solanki. The defenders named for the camp include Deep Grace Ekka, Gurjeet Kaur, Nikki Pradhan, Udita, Ishika Chowdhary, Akshata Abasso Dhekle, Jyoti Chhatri and Mahima Chowdhary.
The midfielders named for the camp are Nisha, Salima Tete, Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Jyoti, Navjot Kaur, Monika, Mariana Kujur, Sonika, Neha, Baljit Kaur, Reena Khokhar, Vaishnavi Phalke and Ajmina Kujur.
Forwards Lalremsiami, Navneet Kaur, Vandana Katariya, Sharmila Devi, Deepika, Sangeeta Kumari, Mumtaz Khan and Sunilita Toppo are also among the key probables.
“After the last camp in which we were able to establish our baseline for the required physical output and address individual improvements, we are looking to improve our team structure and tactics. Against Australia in Australia at the end of this camp Playing will help us assess where we stand in comparison to the top of women’s hockey.
