Take a breath, because this is Holi. One of the biggest festivals of the country, Holi celebrations last for two days. It begins with Chhoti Holi and Holika Dahan, which is followed by Dhulandi or Rangwali. The festival, symbolizing the victory of good over evil, falls between February and March in the month of Phalguna, as per the Hindu calendar.

However, Holi will not be celebrated on March 8 in every city and state. So, let us see in detail when Holi will be celebrated in some important Indian cities and states.

Braj region of Uttar Pradesh

How can we not start with the birthplace of Lord Krishna? While India will be engrossed in Holi festivities on March 8, the Braj region of the state celebrates the festival a week earlier than the rest of the country. And so the celebration will go on for nine days starting from 1st March till 9th ​​March.

It should be noted that Holi celebrations are very popular in the region, and tourists flock to these cities, especially during the festival. The people of the region celebrate Holi with great enthusiasm and extraordinary festivity. The festivities begin with the famous Lathmar Holi and then end with the bizarre Matki Phod ritual.

Varanasi

The spiritual capital of India, Varanasi will celebrate Holi on 7th March. People will start the festival with Holika Dahan on 6th March and will end on 7th March. Varanasi holds immense importance in Hindu belief. Dr. Vinay Pandey, scholar of Kashi Vidvat Parishad, Falgun Shukla Purnima will begin on March 6 at 4.18 pm and end on March 7 at 5.30 pm.

Maharashtra

Maharashtra will celebrate Holi on March 7, as according to the Marathi calendar, the full moon night will start from the evening of March 6 and will continue till March 7, which is called Phalguni Purnima. And on this day Dhulivandan is celebrated.

West Bengal

The festival is marked as Dol Jatra in the state of Bengal. This time this festival will be celebrated on 7th March, Tuesday.

A few days before Holi, people collect wood and other essential items for the bonfire. Many people arrange a symbolic pyre for Holika Dahan in the evening. Also known as Holika Deepak, Holika Dahan should be done on the full moon date, during Pradosh Kaal. According to Drik Panchang, the full moon date will be from 4.17 pm on March 6 to 6.09 pm on March 7. Holika Dahan Muhurta will be from 06:24 pm to 08:51 pm.
