Holi is just around the corner, you must be excited to celebrate the vibrant festival of colours. But before you head out to party and enjoy the festive fervor, make sure your eyes are ready too!

Eyes are the most sensitive and delicate organs we have, and they can be sensitive to external influences. Over the years, chemicals and other toxic substances have slowly replaced the natural colors. These synthetic chemical colors can have a bad effect on the eyesight. Not taking proper care of the eyes can lead to infections, temporary blindness, irritation and allergies.

Dr. Rishi Raj Borah, Country Director, India, Orbis shares some precautionary measures to protect your eyes during Holi:

Do not wear contact lenses

Avoid wearing contact lenses, as most of them may have water-absorbing properties and soak up any colored water that gets into the eye, increasing the risk of allergies and infections.

protect your eyes

Protect your eyes with protective eyewear. Wearing sunglasses will protect your eyes from both dry and colored water. People with full vision can also wear glasses of zero power to avoid any accident.

avoid rubbing

If your hands are dirty and stained with paint, avoid touching your eyes altogether. If color gets into the eyes, wash them with clean cold water. Remember not to rub the eye as this can further aggravate the condition.

Use a good cream or coconut oil

Before stepping out, apply a thick layer of cold cream or coconut oil around your eyes. This will ensure that the colors do not come in direct contact with your eyes or skin and you can easily remove the color later.
