Rajiv Gandhi Foundation news: Officials said the Center has canceled the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) license of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF), a non-governmental organization linked to the Gandhi family, for alleged violation of the law. This action comes after an inquiry conducted by an inter-ministerial committee constituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2020.

“Yes, the FCRA license of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation has been canceled after an inquiry against it,” an official said. Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi is the chairperson of the RGF, while other trustees include former prime minister Manmohan Singh, former finance minister P Chidambaram, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Established in 1991, RGF worked from 1991 to 2009 on many important issues including health, science and technology, women and children, disability assistance etc. According to its website, it also worked in the education sector.
