Honey is a naturally made remedy for cough. The antibacterial properties of honey soothe the throat and reduce throat irritation and dryness. You can consume honey several times as a tea, you can mix it with warm water, or you can take it as it is.

Ayurvedic expert Dr BN Sinha suggests that to clear the throat, drink a glass of milk mixed with a teaspoon of turmeric powder twice a day. Turmeric contains curcumin, which is an anti-inflammatory antiviral compound and has antibacterial properties.

Delhi-based nutritionist Dr Anshul Jaibharat explains that black pepper can help reduce congestion in the chest.
